I earned my degree at Portland State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in German Language and Literature, Applied Linguistics, and Music History. In 2014, I studied at the Goethe Institut in Berlin, where I was able to put my language skills to the test both in the classroom and at the nearby Weihnachstmarkt after a long day of filling my brain.
I began life as a professional translator by working with a veritable hodgepodge of texts, from botanical articles to gaming reviews for GamesCom, the annual gaming convention in Cologne. Later, I added medical and literary translation to my repertoire, where my focus now lies.
I currently serve as Vice President, co-publications advisor, and chair of the Social Events Committee for the Northwest Translators and Interpreters Society (NOTIS); and as co-coordinator for the Digital Events Team of the American Translators Association’s German Language Division.
My passion outside of translation is music. My favorite bands include die Ärzte, System of a Down, Kaizers Orchestra, and yes, Rammstein.
